PBS' "Bill Nye the Science Guy" television show made Bill Nye a household name and a beloved science educator for '90s kids.
In an old clip from the show, Nye uses a beautiful Rickenbacker bass guitar to explain how sound waves work.
Nye probably chose a bass to illustrate his point because of how easy it is to show the vibration of the string on standard definition television.
It was a little disappointing seeing Nye mime (poorly) the bass riff at the end of the segment, but hey, the show was supposed to be funny! He's not called Bill Nye the Bass Guy.
