These Are The Dirtiest & Cleanest Beaches In California

Today, Heal the Bay released their annual "report card" on where the cleanest and dirtiest beaches are in California.

The "report card" grade tested about 700 beaches and was based on bacterial pollution. Some California beaches were impacted negatively due to major spills over the past year, but surprisingly 51 beaches made it to the "Honor Roll" list which is more compared to last years 35. Before you plan your next beach day trip, you might want to check out the cleanest and dirtiest list of California beaches below.

  2. Marlin Park, San Mateo County
  3. Santa Monica Pier, Los Angeles County
  4. Marina del Rey Mother’s Beach at lifeguard tower, Los Angeles County
  5. Moonstone County Park, Humboldt County
  6. Newport Bay, Vaughn’s Launch, Orange County
  7. Lakeshore Park, San Mateo County
  8. Marina del Rey Mother’s Beach, between lifeguard tower and boat dock, Los Angeles County
