Pride Month is here and it's time to celebrate individuality, and to help kick things off, Lance Bass made an appearance during iHeartRadio Wango Tango 2018 by AT&T where he helped create a gorgeous rainbow-filled moment to acknowledge Pride and the efforts of the Trevor Project along with their new partnership with AT&T.
The Trevor Project was founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, and according to their website, is "the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25."
On stage beside Lance was Trevor Project CEO Amit Paley and AT&T's Val Vargas. Lance said to everyone in the Banc of California Stadium, "Pride month is all about celebrating our individuality and supporting the LGBTQ community. But being young and LGBTQ isn't easy." He added, "As Val mentioned, AT&T, our partner who is bring you this whole show tonight, has been dedicated to supporting LGBTQ equality since 1975, and they are continuing their commitment to the LGBTQ community by partnering with the Trevor Project."
Val explained of Trevor Project's partnership with AT&T, "Starting right now, AT&T will support the Trevor Project with products, services, and ... are you ready for this? A one million dollar contribution!"
Lance added, "The Trevor Project provides crisis counseling for LGBTQ youth via phone, text and chat. Now, thanks to AT&T's game-changing support, The Trevor Project will be able to grow and serve more of the 1.5 million LGBTQ youth in America that need our help. Then, as they all proclaimed "Let's turn up the love!" the crowd in the stadium waved glow sticks and rainbow Pride flags.
Just before Lance, Val, and Amit appeared on stage, Meghan Trainor had a rainbow moment of her own when she waved a rainbow flag in the air while singing "Like I'm Gonna Lose You," with the entire stadium following suit.
Earlier in the day at the Wango Tango Village presented by the California Earthquake Authority, Trevor Project displayed a wall of rainbow hearts, with concert-goers filling out each heart with messages like "I pledge to help my LGBTQ friends live a life free from prejudice and judgement" and "I support LGBTQ people's right to live a peaceful life and be at peace with who they are."
