Festival season is officially here, and it's safe to say the kickoff to this glorious time of flower crowns, denim shorts, and braids is the biggest festival of the year, Coachella. Well, the time has finally arrived.
This year, Coachella goes down in Indio, California during the weekends of April 13th and April 22nd — two weekends full of amazing performances from some of the biggest artists out there, including Beyoncé, who had to cancel her performance last year due to her pregnancy with the twins (Rumi and Sir). Also headlining this year are The Weeknd, who just recently surprise-released a new EP My Dear Melancholy, as well as Eminem, who made his big return to the music scene this year by releasing his ninth studio album, Revival.
The 2018 Coachella lineup also includes bands and artists like HAIM, Tyler, The Creator, Post Malone, Migos, Cardi B (who just released her debut album, Invasion of Privacy and is currently pregnant), Miguel, Portugal. The Man, SZA, Kygo, and more. And in true Coachella fashion, there are bound to be surprise guest appearances.
With all of the excitement with the arrival of festival season, it's important to approach these three-day-long music extravaganzas safely, stylishly, and in a smart manner. Whether you're going to Coachella, or Stagecoach, or Governor's Ball, or any other music festival this year, take a look at some of our favorite festival hacks, presented by McCafé, that will keep you cool and help you conquer the weekend in style.
1. Don't have your phone up the entire time filming every second of every set you watch.
Sure, you wanna capture those awesome moments. Sure, you wanna do it for the Gram. Sure, you wanna re-watch over and over again, so you can relive the weekend forever. But as they say: live for the moment! Or "sing for the moment," as Coachella headliner Eminem says. Nothing compares to being as phone free as possible and maximizing your festival experience.
2. If you have long hair, try out some braided hairstyles to stay cool & combat frizz from humidity.
Not only do the braids look awesome — there are SO many styles to choose from — they will keep the hair out of your face, off your neck, and keep you looking fresh throughout the day. Plus, on day three, you can finally take them down and enjoy a natural wave.
3. If you have shorter hair, tie a bandana or sweatband around your head to help absorb sweat.
This is the art of staying cool and looking cool. A festival MUST.
