U2 Takes Grammys Performance to Statue of Liberty

The Grammys is known for encouraging political statements on its stage, but iconic Irish rockers U2 came to the ceremony with a statement too big even for Madison Square Garden.

U2 performed their song "Get Out of Your Own Way" from the new album Songs of Experience before the Statue of Liberty.

The band delivered the not-so-subtle message as Congress prepares to debate a number of immigration issues in the coming weeks.

You can watch it below.

U2 pre-recorded their performance from a barge in New York Harbor.

And while the rendition of "Get Out of Your Own Way" wasn't live, it was U2's second appearance on the broadcast.

Bono and The Edge made a cameo at the top of the show during Kendrick Lamar's striking opening performance.

U2 is featured on the song "XXX." from Lamar's hit album DAMN.

The singer and the guitarist strolled across the stage on either side of Lamar during their verse in the song before turning in opposite directions as Lamar finished the track and launched into "DNA."
