It's been a wild year for Evvie McKinney. After winning the first season of The Four: Battle For Stardom, the Memphis native became new iHeartRadio's On The Verge artist, recently released her debut solo single "How Do You Feel," and kicked off the 2018 Daytime Stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
Being the very first artist to take the stage on Saturday, September 22nd, Evvie performed her new single, as well as a cover of Tina Turner's "Proud Mary," which she performed on The Four and wowed star-studded panel Diddy, DJ Khaled and Meghan Trainor.
But, Evvie also paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin when she performed the music icon's "I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You.)" Before performing the song, she told the crowd, "I wanna give tribute to one of my biggest inspirations, Miss Aretha Franklin."
Evvie looked stunning in vinyl bell bottom pants and a matching vinyl coat, with a little sparkly bodysuit underneath. And she really broke it down when she performed the final song of her set, Tina Turner's "Proud Mary" — Evvie can sing, but she can also DANCE.
Earlier this year, she explained to iHeartRadio of how personal her single, "How Do You Feel" is for her, "It's very personal and I sing the song with so much passion. I chose 'How Do You Feel' to be my single because I wanted something that the world could listen to. I wanted to make the world listen to me. When my song is playing on the radio, I want people to have no choice but to listen to the whole song from start to finish. And 'How Do You Feel' is so much. I sang that song with so much passion and so many emotions, and I just know that it's really gonna touch somebody. I wanted something that would tell a story, walk people through a little bit of my life over here. Because I sing aggressive. I sing with so much pain and so much passion for a reason. And 'How Do You Feel' reaches them in that way."
