Kelsea Ballerini performed alongside a lineup of talented artists during the Daytime Village presented by Capital One this weekend. But before she hit the stage, she hung out with us on night one of the iHeartRadio Music Festival at T-Mobile Arena, and while she was there, she talked about her gal pal Taylor Swift during an interview with Billboard.
In case you didn't know, Kelsea and Taylor are releasing their new albums a week apart. Kelsea will be dropping her second studio album Unapologetically on November 3rd, while Taylor will be sharing her new album Reputation on November November 10th.
Kelsea told Billboard that she had been texting with Taylor earlier that day about her brand new single "High School," which will be featured on Unapologetically. She said of her friend:
"I love her, I was texting with her today. She's amazing, and she's supportive. We're obviously in different genres now, but I think we're both songwriters at heart, and we root each other on, and she's the biggest superstar in the whole world, so I'm excited to hear her record. I haven't heard it yet, so I'm stoked."
Kelsea also talked about the advice that Taylor has given her. And her favorite wise words of T-Swift's? Just be yourself! She said:
"She's just really good at, like, being yourself; that's always been her advice, is go with your gut, go with your heart. Like, follow that and not anything else."
