Planned Parenthood: Detroit Edition

And now, on this edition of Postmodern Storytime, we're going to glorify abortion. That's right, folks, we're going to make sure you're ready for this weekend's massive conference in Detroit, Michigan. We want you to be prepared for the "Power of Pink" conference, where they'll "train more than 3,000 Planned Parenthood supporters on how to organize their communities, run data-driven campaigns, and help elect reproductive health champions in 2018."

Planned Parenthood is officially calling it "Our Biggest, Baddest, Raddest Grassroots Training Ever."

The description read:

Over the past year, the Trump-Pence administration has pushed out policy after policy to undermine our rights, freedom, and access to health care. And for people of color, young people, and women, everything is on the line. In response, were organizing the most important training we've ever had.

Kelley Robinson, the National Organizing Director at Planned Parenthood Action Fund, said; "Being in Detroit is a really intentional thing for us because Detroit is a beacon for progressivism."

Interesting. Because if Detroit is a beacon for progressivism…well, let's just say it makes a lot of sense — in 2016, Detroit recorded 579 rapes; 9,882 aggravated assaults, and 2,941 robberies; the city had 303 homicides last year, one of the most violent, deadly cities in the country — so, I guess now that I think about it, it makes perfect sense to hold an abortion conference there.

Well, clearly he hasn't taken their freedom of speech.

One of the options on the Power of Pink sign-up page is the "Tracking Trump" timeline, which features a (highly-funded) timeline of President Trump's presidency, which they consider an assault on women. The caption reads:

Trump is taking away our freedoms.

Well, clearly he hasn't taken their freedom of speech. I'd mark that as an overall win for human rights that a government-funded agency is able to openly castigate the President. It's almost as if the world is actually nowhere near as awful as these people think.
