With all the reports and tributes on the death of Burt Reynolds at age 82 this week, I was reminded of probably my favorite, and funniest, memory of Burt on TV. It was the night he showed up on the Johnny Carson Tonight Show in a full leather outfit, armed with a bottle of whipped cream.
With no words whatsoever, he and Johnny proceeded to level that audience, and me, with what came next... pure slap stick. As you'll see in the clip below Johnny eventually had the last laugh, but it was also the look on Burt's face when he was... sticking it to Johnny, shall we say... that really gets me.
It was my girl, CNN contributing novelty reporter Jeanne Moos, that reminded me of this moment in this piece. Wanna give credit where credit is due. Nice report overall below...
Just about everybody online talking about it online agrees with my assessment above.
Burt really had a LOT of respect for Johnny.
