Anyway, a musician named Sophia James posted seven videos in one night to see which one the algorithm would push the hardest.
Each video was labeled “Group 1,” “Group 2,” and so on... and she said if you saw a certain one, that’s your group. Explaining how this was just a big science experiment.
But the seventh video blew up way more than the others, and suddenly everyone was like, “Wait, I’m in Group 7!”
It turned into this funny, fake-exclusive club of people who happened to see that video, and the vibe became super playful...like you’re part of the “cool group” TikTok chose for you.
What’s wild is how fast it spread. People started making their own “Group 7” jokes and memes…brands and influencers jumped in pretending to be part of it.
But, the whole thing started as a way for Sophia to promote her song “So Unfair”
And it worked! Thousands of users are using her song in their Group 7 videos.
It’s turned into this viral example of how TikTok users love to create communities out of the most random moments.
