Recently SoCal has been experiencing a lot of earthquakes and if you're unsure of what to do or have prepared during an emergency you should check out this earthquake preparedness fair in Highland Park.
The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council has put together the Northeast Los Angeles Earthquake Preparedness Fair to help "empower and reengage the local community in earthquake preparedness." The event is taking place this Saturday, September 21 from 10am-3pm at the Highland Park Senior Center (6152 N. Figueroa Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90042). During this free event, there will be a 4 seat earthquake simulator from Safe-T-Proof, which will simulate the experience of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, along with:
- practice turning off gas and water valves
- develop family communication plans for after an earthquake
- discover strategies for post-disaster recovery
- Emergency Kit Building: learn what essentials to include in your home disaster kit
- Fault Line Presentations: educational talks on local geology and earthquake risks
