The Library of Congress National Film Registry has added 25 new films to its collection, including "Home Alone," "Nightmare Before Christmas," and films by Spike Lee, Steve McQueen, Ron Howard, Ang Lee, and James Cameron.

The films were selected for their cultural, historic, or aesthetic importance and bring the total number of films in the registry to 875. The public submitted over 6,800 titles for consideration this year. The Library of Congress plans to screen "Nightmare Before Christmas" and "Home Alone" in December, and Turner Classic Movies will host a television special to discuss the films.
