Avocado farms, roller-skating concerts and the F word - forties that being!! The Valentine in The Morning crew were ‘lucky’ enough to have the talented Jason Mraz stop by the studio to chat through all things new album, unusual hobbies and creating music over a decade.
After being treated to a listen of his new album, Mystical Magical Rhythmical Radical Ride, we were thrilled to hear that Mraz will be touring the United States this year with his talented Superband! When he’s not busy on the road, Jason manages his avocado farm, yes that’s right. Chipotle buys 60-70 pounds of these ‘big melon’ size avocados. What can’t this man do do!
We couldn’t chat about his new music without taking a deep dive into his California upbringing. Jason reflected on growing up in a “latch key” house and how this impacted his music. Mraz said he’s spent a lot of his life looking to heal from this experience and writing his iconic loves songs has assisted in this process.
Jill had one final request for the talented musician… to play her favorite song - ‘If It Kills Me’ on tour. Mraz chuckled with a “I’ll play it as the opener, three times in the middle and the encore”.
