BEWARE! Some Lyft Customers Are Being Charged For False Damages

If you use Lyft often, you might want to be careful because according to KTLA 5, some customers are getting charged by Lyft for damages they didn't do.

The scam going on is often when the customer gets out of their Lyft ride and is then notified of being charged for damages they had nothing to do with. They dispute the charges, Lyft says that they will investigate and then they are shown photos as proof. Chris Elliot, who runs a consumer advocacy blog called Elliot Advocacy, says that to avoid this scam you should take a photo before you enter the vehicle and when you get out of the vehicle. Elliot also advises to talk to the driver to establish "some type of rapport" so they're less likely to report fake damages.

If you do get charged for the false damages, ask for photos and to see the report. If that fails then you can talk to your bank and file a fraud claim. Head to KTLA 5 for more information.
