Former Boy Meets World actress Maitland Ward opened up on her decision to move from Hollywood to the Adult Entertainment Industry. She said to Yahoo Life that this journey - which she talks about in her upcoming book, Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me From Hollywood - was about taking back control of her sexuality. "I was looked at, in my view, as the more provocative one - people were fascinated by my long legs, and I'm so tall and I have fiery red hair and, and it was like it almost made that OK. People would come up and like pat you on the ass or like give you a little pinch or say, 'Oh, look how hot you are. Look at your tits.'"

She went on to say that she was expected to a "sexualized being" for other people, and not for herself. She was put in sexualized clothes and situations, but if she were to wear it in her real life, "Disney and producers and Hollywood would've comedown on me. Especially the producer, Michael Jacobs - he was very adamant about me being chaste and the good girl. At the time, Ward felt that this was expected of many female celebrities including Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson She believes that the dichotomy of having to be both virginal and chaste hindered her "sexual exploration and finding out who I was for a very long time."

After marrying her husband Terry Baxter in 2006, she became the number one adult creator on Patreon and went on to join professional porn productions a year and a half later. She feels the move into the professional space has improved her sex life with her husband, the way she views herself, and has helped her take control of her life.
