So, I’m sure you’ve seen people using the NGL link on Instagram. In case you don’t really know what it is…it lets your friends and followers send anonymous messages.
NGL stands for "not gonna lie," which is quite appropriate given the app's premise.
The app was launched late last year by a team based in Venice Beach, but has only recently become popular on Instagram.
Like most social media apps, Instagram doesn't offer any built-in anonymous features. This could prevent a user from getting honest answers, since people are not always comfortable sharing their real opinion. That's where anonymous apps come in.
Everyone is posting on their stories for people to respond. Once a user receives an anonymous message, they can open the NGL app and tap on the Inbox tab at the top to view messages.
This platform gives people the freedom to really say what is on their mind! Could be cool, could be dangerous! It could be “I have a crush on you”…we know someone who got a message saying “I wrote a song about you”…but it could also lead to online bullying, which could be a major issue.
