In honor of International Joke Day, scientific experts have revealed the worlds funniest joke. Scientists analyzed a study that started 20 years ago to select a joke that had "universal appeal" and made the readers feel "superior to others." More than 1.5 million people across the world rated five randomly selected jokes from a database of more than 40,000. Here is the best ranked joke:
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. he doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps: "My friend is dead! What can I do?" the operator says: "Calm down, I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, the a short is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says: "OK, now what?"
I mean, it made me chuckle, but the funniest joke I've ever heard was by comedian Marc Maron during his standup special, Think Pain (it's on Netflix I HIGHLY recommend):
I don't really know if someone loves me if I can't make them cry. So, isn't that the test for all of us? Really? If you're with somebody and you don't know if you can make them cry, I'd go deeper. Wouldn't trust that bond.
