Forget a 'Honeymoon' Take Me On A 'Megamoon'!

With travel restrictions easing, many travelers are taking those trips they had to put off - especially those that lost their opportunity to take their honeymoon.

Covid affected many people, and the wedding industry was one of them. Weddings and honeymoons had to be rescheduled, redesigned, or even ditched completely. According to a study by Expedia, 97% of the couples surveyed had their honeymoon plans disrupted by Covid. There are a projected 4.7 million wedding scouring in 2022 and 2023, and couples are ditching the traditional honeymoon for the "Megmoon" and other nontraditional celebrations. Here's what they found:

Forget The Wedding Gifts - 65% of couples said they would rather put a honeymoon fund on their wedding registries. This reflects a broader consumer trend of prioritizing experiences over things.

MegaMoons - 53% of couples are planning on spending more on their honeymoons then they has originally budgeted, with 59% planning on a major bucket list trip instead of your standard honeymoon suite.

DuoMoons - 83% of the couples served planned on taking more than one honeymoon.

RedoMoons - 54% of couples that were already married said that they weren't completely satisfied with their pandemic honeymoon and wanted a "do-over" trip.

Highly sought after trips according the survey are beach and tropical destinations (19%), multiple destinations (18%), urban getaways (16%), and national parks (15%). Couples are also looking for romantic activities including all-inclusive resort stays (45%), romantic activities like sunset cruises or hot-air balloon rides (54%), and overall pampering (52%).
