A photo restoration specialist has given new life to what is believed to be the final footage of the last captive Tasmanian Tiger by painstakingly producing a colorized and enhanced version of the decades-old film. Originally shot back in 1935 by videographer Sidney Cooke, the incredibly rare material was part of a travelogue titled 'Tasmania the Wonderland' and showcased various creatures living at the Hobart Zoo, including the famed final thylacine Benjamin. Subsequently lost for decades, the footage was finally unearthed in 2020 when researchers discovered it in the catalog of Australia's National Film and Sound Archive and unveiled it to the world for the first time in 85 years. Now the film has something of a sequel by way of a vivid new colorized version.
