CDC: Fully Vaxxed People Can Safely Hook Up!

While the nightly news keeps on trying to figure out when it will be safe for people to hug their grandparents again, single people want to know when they can do basically the opposite of hugging their nana. And by that? Yes, I mean bumping uglies with strangers. Well… the Center For Disease Control just dropped some good news on that front.

According to their new set of rules, the CDC has made it seem like fully vaccinated people to have sex again with people outside their quarantine bubble. Or at least they implied it. While there is no direct mention of sex anywhere in their updated guidelines Dr. Anne Liu, an infectious disease physician, says because COVID-19 is a respiratory virus, the rules for having sex right now are essentially the same for any other activity involving close contact with other people.

● Vaccinated people can safely hang with other vaccinated people indoors, masks off. Ipso facto, that means if you’re vaccinated, you can hook up with another vaccinated person with little to no anxiety. Liu says “it is very low-risk for two vaccinated individuals” to have sex.

● Vaccinated people should feel free to mingle. If you read between the lines of the CDC guidance, vaccinated people have been cleared to do the dirty with unvaccinated people. According to Liu, “if the person who’s unvaccinated is at low risk for severe disease and is also at low risk for exposure, then it’s probably a pretty low-risk situation” to have sex with them.

The biggest takeaway Dr. Liu would like all the single folk out there itching to run free through Tinder again to know is “if it’s safe to be around someone and breathe the same air, then there’s no additional risk from sex above and beyond in terms of COVID.” Source: Vice
