When it comes to love nothing will get in the way of it, not even a pandemic. Los Angeles County just announced that they're issuing marriage licenses again for the first time in two months. Of course, since we're all practicing social distancing, the process will now be online. The Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk closed all of its offices to the public on March 16th due to the pandemic, but the office has been working to open back up via videoconferencing. They'll be following an executive order implemented by Governor Gavin Newsom earlier this month allowing marriage licensing to be done remotely. If you want to make an appointment for your marriage license through the video conferencing system, one or both individuals must meet the following criteria:
- One individual must be a resident of Los Angeles County
- Both individuals must be in the same place within California
- Both individuals must have valid government identification
- Must have a device with video/audio capabilities (desktop, laptop, tablet or phone)
- Must have an Internet connection
You can book an appointment by calling 800-201-8999, option 1 and they'll accommodate all couple on a first-come-first-serve basis. You can find all of the information here!
