If you're not up to date with the latest iPhone, you may notice that even though you're updating your phone with the latest software, your phone is slowly getting slower and slower. When this happens you usually think that your older iPhone can't keep up with the new software and it's about time to get a new phone. Well, Apple will pay up to $500 Million to settle a class action lawsuit that accuses the company of slowing down older iPhone model so customers are more compelled to buy new iPhones. According to documents released in US District Court in San Jose, California, this settlement agreement requires Apple to pay owners of certain iPhone models $25 per affected device, totaling a minimum of $310 million and a maximum of $500 million. The actual amount each user receives could increase or decrease depending on how many claims are filed as well as additional legal fees and expenses approved by the court. This settlement agreement is set to be approved by a judge on April 3rd. This backlash has gone one for years after Apple admitted back in 2017 that they used software updates to slow down older iPhones. Apple users can file a settlement claim if you owned an iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus or SE device bought before December 21, 2017.
