WU-TANG CLAN: Popa Wu Passes

TeeRoy's 2 Cents:

  • We all have at least one who mentor, elder or O.G. who has given us guidance at some point.
  • Rest in power, Popa Wu.
  • This is like the Ninja Turtles losing Master Splinter.

Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Popa Wu has passed away at age 63.

The man they called the “Father of the Clan” was featured on tracks like Raekwon’s“North Star” and Wu-Tang’s “The Blessing” and “Wu-Revolution,” and would sometimes take the stage at the group’s concerts to speak. He was reportedly 63 years old, and passed at home in Brooklyn, New York.

GZA broke the news on Instagram, where he posted a clip of Pop Wu preaching the Five Percent philosophy.Method Man, Raekwon,Ghostface Killah,Young Dirty Bastard and Mathematics all paid tribute through social media. Rae wrote, “Can’t believe you’re gone!!! This hurts.” Meth said he had “no words” to describe the loss.
