Let’s hear it for dads! According to the National Retail Federation, people are spending more money on Father’s Day this year than ever before. Total spending for the holiday is estimated to reach a record $16 billion, up from last year’s $15.3 billion. 76% of people plan to celebrate with dear ol’ dad on Sunday, and we’re expected to spend, on average, $138.97 -- up from $132.82 last year and way up from $91 in 2009. So what are we getting for dad? Tickets for concerts and sporting events and other special outings, clothes, books, electronics, tools and sporting goods were all top gift choices.
Don’t know what to get dad for Father’s Day? How about some plastic surgery? Yep, according to a new survey, cosmetic procedures are becoming so popular with middle-aged men that many are requesting procedures for Father’s Day. Research by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found that lots of dads are turning to what’s being dubbed the “Daddy-Do-Over” to improve their looks and confidence. It’s the male version of the “Mommy Makeover.”
Life’s a beach …When it comes to Americans’ favorite type of vacation, it’s all about the beach. According to aSurveyMonkeypoll, here are Americans' Favorite Types of Vacation:
- Chillin’ on a beach – 38%
- Exploring arts and culture – 25%
- Doing something outdoorsy – 16%
- Food and wine tour – 13%
- Partying and nightlife – 4%
Sleeping your way to the top …A pretty shocking new survey found that 77% of Generation Z respondents said they would be willing to sleep with their boss or manager in order to make more money. And 23% of the Gen Zers surveyed said they had made a pass at someone they worked with because they thought it would help advance their career. 87% said they believed “everybody does it” when it comes to hooking up at work to get ahead. And 42% of Gen Z respondents said they don’t see anything wrong with having romantic relationships with co-workers.
