Explorers in India have discovered thousands of ancient petroglyphs atop hills in India and they suspect that they were created by a lost civilization. The remarkable drawings depict humans and a number of different animals as well as odd geometric designs. According to the BBC, experts who examined the petroglyphs say that the manner in which they were created suggests that they date back to prehistoric times.
Sudhir Risbood and Manoj Marathe are credited as the researchers responsible for uncovering the vast array of ancient drawings. The duo became intrigued by the petroglyphs after spotting a handful of the drawings in various villages where the artwork was considered sacred. Risbood and Marathe subsequently went on a quest to find more of the petroglyphs. The vast majority of the drawings had been concealed by the proverbial sands of time and literal dirt and mud.
