A couple from the United Kingdom got a little more than they paid for when renting an AirBnB for their trip to Toronto, Canada. As in, the listing didn’t specify that there’d be a spy camera installed in the apartment.
Dougie Hamilton from Glasgow, Scotland discovered the camera after taking a closer look at a strange alarm clock facing the living room and bedroom that was connected to a charger… turns out, there was a lens hidden behind the front cover. There’s no telling whether the owner was actually watching, but it was enough to drive them out of the property.
Now, a spokesperson from AirBnB confirms that they’ve taken the host, who reportedly has six other properties listed, off the platform pending investigation. Toronto police are also investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Hamilton has been promised a full refund for his experience.
