ALLIGATOR ATTACK: Woman Dies Protecting Her Dog

A South Carolina woman is dead after an alligator attacked her and pulled her into a lagoon.

Police say 45-year-old Cassandra Cline was walking her dog through a community in Hilton Head Island when the gator suddenly appeared. They believe Cline was trying to protect her dog, but the gator grabbed a hold of her and pulled her into the water. Her body was later found, as was the alligator which was killed at the scene. The dog was found unharmed.

Alligator-related deaths are still very rare and this is only the second-known fatality in South Carolina's history. The last one was in 2016. (USA Today)
