Andy Cohen has seen just about everything over the years as the driving force behind the Real Housewives franchise (and just about everything else on Bravo). And in his new book, The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year, he’s sharing some of those juicy tidbits.

“It’s inspired by the Andy Warhol Diaries, which is an incredibly name-droppy, fun kind-of pop culture time capsule from like 25 years ago,” the Watch What Happens Live host explained when he called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday morning. “I kept a top-secret diary for a year and I’m now publishing it. It takes you all around the world, it takes you in and out of my show, behind the scenes … I almost called it Diary of a Name-Dropper because I drop so many names … Sarah Jessica Parker read it and said, ‘Oh my God, I think you’re Carrie Bradshaw, which to me is the highest compliment ever!”

But there’s one thing that separates Andy from Carrie … instead of his love life, he’s dishing some pretty good dirt on the bold-name celebs that he’s encountered over the years.

And there’s one in particular who may not want to come back on Watch What Happens Live after she reads it: Mariah Carey. “I spoke to her publicist who read the book, and I said, ‘What do you think?’ She said, ‘I thought it was fair.’

“[Lady] Gaga‘s in there, Katy Perry, Mariah, J.Lo, a lot of the divas of the moment,” adds Andy. “So Mariah came on my show and I just talked about what goes into an appearance by Mariah … the lighting, I changed my seat because her better side is my side. And she brought her own goblet. There were some kind of guidelines for the interview, but what I go on to say is that I loved her and I love her and I got her talking about Glitter, which I hadn’t heard her speak about for a long time …  some of the background that goes into big high-profile interviews is as interesting as the interview themselves.”
