Beneath the northwest base of Japan's Mount Fuji lies Aokigahara, a mysterious forest where people go to take their own lives.

The eerie and negative history of Aokigahara, also known as "Suicide Forest," inspired the new film The Forest starring Chicago Fire's Taylor Kinney and The Hunger Games' Natalie Dormer.

"It's a great film for a date night or to go with a bunch of friends," Kinney tells On Air with Ryan Seacrest Wednesday. "It's a thriller ... As for the audience and any fan of the genre, as they watch the film, try and guess what is happening, who's up to what, what characters are maybe good, bad, and in between, and I hope they talk about it after."

The Forest hits theaters this Friday.
