On the rise pop-rock star Bea Miller entered The X Factor Season 2 at 13-years-old and gained a massive momentum of success in the following years. Now 15, the Los Angeles-based singer is signed to Hollywood Records, and has released a four-song Young Blood EP that peaked at No. 64 on the Billboard 200.

The singer-songwriter joined On Air with Ryan Seacrest in-studio on Wednesday and discussed how her promising career was set in motion after attending a Hannah Montana concert.

“This is going to sound super lame, but I went to a Hannah Montana concert when the Jonas Brothers were opening up for her when I was like 9,” she admits. “I was like, ‘I want to be like Hannah Montana,’ and I think that’s every little 9-year-old’s dream at that time when Hannah Montana was still a thing.”

After taking the next step towards her newfound dream by auditioning on The X Factor with low expectations, Bea finished the competition in ninth place, and she continued her pursuit at stardom with her hit single “Young Blood.”

“I really wanted to kind of get the message across [with this song] that like, even though you feel like you’re the only one who goes through certain situations — the only one who’s ever really kind of down in the dumps and having a really hard time being alive — you’re not,” she said. “There are other people who get it, and I get it. If you listen to this song, and all your friends listen to this song and you all like it and relate to it, then you all kind of understand each other.”

Following the explanation of her hit jam, Bea, who opened on select dates of Demi Lovato‘s self-titled world tour, performed a stripped down rendition of “Young Blood” on-air, and she also covered Sam Smith‘s tender single, “Stay With Me.”

After her unadulterated performances, Bea accepted a surprise invitation to perform at KIIS FM’s sold-out Jingle Ball — held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on December 5 — alongside Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, and 5 Seconds of Summer.

“Oh my God. Do you think if I ask [Luke Hemmings] to marry me, he’ll feel really weirded out?” she said, digressing at the mention of the Australian rock band. After revealing her infatuation for the 5SOS guitarist and lead vocalist, Ryan surprised Bea by patching through a phone call from the 18-year-old rocker.

“Hey Luke, how would you feel if she asked you to get married,” Ryan asked, in which he replied out of nowhere, “I’d feel flattered. I’d probably say yes at the spur of the moment.”
